Become a volunteer paddling guide!

Love being on the water and sharing in outdoor adventures? Join us as a volunteer paddling guide and help lead guided canoe/kayak tours in the West Fork of the Trinity River here on the Nature Center's grounds. Volunteers assist staff with loading equipment, helping participants launch safely, and providing on-the-water support during tours. Water safety is our top priority, and guides play a key role in ensuring a fun and secure experience for all.

Aquatic programs are typically held on weekend mornings, though programs occur throughout the year at various times, including our special monthly "Moonlight Paddle" tours at night. Volunteers must be able to swim, lift 50 pounds, and have some experience paddling a canoe or kayak. 

If you enjoy paddling, working with people, and promoting outdoor recreation, we'd love to have you on the team! Join us and help others explore nature from the water!

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® is the world's largest fundraiser for Alzheimer's care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease.

Good food, good vibes, and even better company — our adoptable dogs! FWACC is teaming up with Belenty’s Love Vegan Mexican Restaurant this November for a heartwarming Adoption Event that’s all about community, compassion, and connection.

We’re looking for volunteers to bring approved shelter dogs to the event and help them enjoy a day out meeting potential adopters. The event will feature Belenty’s delicious vegan dishes, local guests, and a chance for our shelter pups to soak up the attention they deserve!

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Bring an approved shelter dog to the event

Walk and monitor your dog throughout the day

Engage with visitors, share your dog’s personality, and introduce them to potential adopters.

This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy great food and great company while helping our shelter dogs find their forever homes.

Volunteers will play an important role in supporting our youth by, assisting with homework help, joining in on fun and engaging activities, and being a positive role model in helping us create a welcoming and supportive environment. 

Volunteers needed for our Trunk or Treat Event at Martin Luther King Jr, Community Center. We need volunteers to give out candy given from the Center. Join us for an afternoon of music, food, games, candy, face painting, and pumpkin decorating for all ages. This is a family friendly event - come together to enjoy the season and make lasting memories with the community. Costumes are encouraged. Please have a clean trunk to give out candy. 

Come join us and make this event memorable to the children and adults, seniors in your community. This event occurs every year in October, and we are excited to be hosting another successful event. You will be taking an important part in some of the following: Preparing, Crafting, Sign Making, Decorating, Games, Greeting and Assisting Patrons.  

Volunteers will assist as needed with After School Program. Duties may include gathering supplies, homework assistance, and leading an activity such as arts and crafts.

This is a great Opportunity for Moms, siblings and other Community members such as teens and adults to give back to the community as a After School, Summer Camp Volunteer or for upcoming activities. Join in the fun with crafts outdoor activities and more. You will be a great support to our Rec. Asst., Camp Leaders . Come join the fun ! Parents you can enroll to help with field trips and help supervise your child along helping other Camp Leaders, Recreation Assistants during After School Programs and other event activities .

Join the Natural Guard- get your hands dirty for conservation!

Love working outdoors to make a real impact? Become a part of Natural Guard, our hands-on volunteer team dedicated to preserving and enhancing the Nature Center. Work alongside our Natural Resources team on vital fieldwork projects, including trail maintenance, invasive species removal, wildlife care, and more!

Natural guard meets twice a week on a regular schedule (you can come either day)- Thursdays and Saturday mornings from 8-11.  All tools, equipment, and training will be provided. Come prepared with outdoor work clothes (especially long pants) & a water source (like a bottle).

Whether you're passionate about conservation or just love working with your hands, this is a great way to give back, stay active, and be a steward of the land. Join us to make a difference!

H-E-B is Hosting their Annual Feast of Sharing Event at Dickie's Arena. Community Risk Reduction will be attending to give out SWAG and setting up our Obstacle Course for families to have some fun with. We need volunteers that are social and full of energy to help reset and get as many children through the obstacle course as we can. This is a great opportunity to volunteer your time and interact with the community!

Community Risk Reduction will be joining Red Cross in the Sound the Alarm: Smoke Installation Drive. We are needing volunteers that are ready to help install free smoke alarms in homes that need them! 

Anytime spent monitoring/reporting severe weather during Weather Events

Teens, earn volunteer hours for National Honor Society, Student Council, college applications, or just for fun by helping at our community center!

This opportunity is for helping keep our center Clean. 

Join us at Andrew “Doc” Session Community Center for our spooky-fun Trunk or Treat event! Volunteers will help with decorating trunks, passing out candy, running games, and creating a safe, festive experience for families.

Join us for Bible Study as we explore scripture, deepen our faith, and grow in fellowship. This hour is designed for all ages to come together, reflect on God's Word and engage in meaningful discussions. Whether you're new to the Bible or looking to enrich your spiritual journey, all are welcome.

This Program is every Tuesday from 11am-12PM

Help us bring joy and connection to the senior citizen community at Andrew 'Doc' Session. Volunteers will assist with activities, craft, conversation and BINGO - a crowd favorite, to keep our seniors active and engaged. 

Volunteers will play an important role in supporting our youth by, assisting with homework help, joining in on fun and engaging activities, and being a positive role model in helping us create a welcoming and supportive environment. 

Engage with youth participants of the Handley Meadowbrook After School Program aged 5-13.  Duties may include gathering supplies, homework assistance, and leading activities such as games or arts and crafts.

The First Thursday of every month for Handley Meadowbrook, is our Senior Share food distribution program. We need your help to pack, distribute, and carry a free bag of groceries to all community members who come in.

We’ll kick off the Cowtown fun at Will Rogers Memorial Center, the home to the annual Stock Show and Rodeo, in the heart of Fort Worth’s Cultural District.

Join us Saturday, December 6th for the 3rd Annual Cowtown Candy Cane Walk/Run! We will start and finish at The Cowtown Marathon headquarters located in the Westcliff Shopping Center. 

The evening walk/run starts at 5pm. You will enjoy walking or running through the Westcliff neighborhood viewing the festive holiday lights along the way.

This is a teen volunteer opportunity. Volunteers will assist with various tasks around the center and at events, helping to support student activities and community efforts. It's a great way to get involved, gain experience, and contribute in a meaningful way alongside your peers. If you're a teen looking to give back and be part of a team, we’d love to have your help.

We are looking for volunteers to help with our FW @ 6 late night program. We our looking for individuals  who are interested in working with our young adults  with activities  such as (Cooking class, LifeSkill class, literacy, financial literacy, business classes 

Join the Greenhouse volunteer team!

Are you passionate about native plants and conservation? Become a greenhouse volunteer and help us grow and plant Texas native species that will thrive on the Refuge's grounds! Volunteers will have the opportunity to study, grow, and plant native plants, contributing directly to habitat restoration and biodiversity efforts. This is a hands-on, outdoor role where you'll work alongside our dedicated Natural Resources team to nurture and plant a variety of species. 

All tools and materials will be provided, just bring outdoor clothes, a water-source, and a passion for plants! The group meets every Wednesday morning from 8-11. If you love working outdoors and want to make a lasting impact on the environment, join our Greenhouse team and "give it a grow!"

These volunteers help with specific golf course responsibilities. The work performed by these individuals would include but is not limited to picking the driving range with the use of a motorized cart, being out of the golf course as ambassadors to the golfers ensuring they are following the golf course rules of play, pulling carts for daily play, rotating carts, washing carts and returning them to cart barn, and sanding divots on golf course.  Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of 8 hours per week in one day or split into two days.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School AVID Program

The School Green Teams program focuses on teaching students the importance of sustainability and taking care of the environment. A team is made up of someone 18 years or older and at least one student. The team will compete with other School Green Teams across Fort Worth for the school year by completing activities from an activity page provided by the KFWB team. Each activity is worth points and the team with the most points at the end of the school year wins a prize. Teams can submit their progress on the School Green Teams webpage to accumulate points.

Litter cleanups are encouraged to happen at least six times each year (every other month). We strongly recommend monthly cleanups and additional cleanups, as needed, to keep your site looking its best.

You must have an APPROVED Adopt-A-Spot agreement with Keep Fort Worth Beautiful (KFWB) to log hours in the KFWB Adopt-A-Spot (Litter Only) Opportunity.

Assist in the mentoring and leadership of our teens, ages 11-18, by providing enriching programs.  Gladiator School can include activities within the community center or special field trips. 

Setting up, managing stations, breaking down and cleaning

We need volunteers who are willing to help with strictly helping kids read their homework. Due to the adult to student ratio, we usually do not have enough staff to tend to the kids who only need help reading their homework.

We have a variety of youth sports that need coaches. The ages are 4-17 depending on the sport. We typically do 1 practice a week with games on Saturday mornings.

Rising Stars Youth Leadership Academy is an experience for teens ages 13-17 who are eager to take charge of their future. We focus on four pillars: Service, Education, Life Skills and Fun. We’re looking for motivated volunteers to help mentor and support teens through our Rising Stars program. This includes leading discussions, helping with activities, and being a positive role model.

Join us for Mobile Rec Summer Camp where you will be working with kids ages 5-12, engaging in various educational and sporting activities.

Do you love sharing your passion for nature with others? Docents serve as interpreters and naturalists, lead fun and engaging guided hikes with school-aged children, and participate in community outreach events, helping the public connect with the wonders of the natural world. 

Our docents will also receive periodic training to better prepare them as interpreters and guides. If you enjoy being outdoors, teaching others, and inspiring curiosity, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Come make a difference!

Become a Wildlife Ambassador Care volunteer!

Love animals and want to make a difference? Join our wildlife ambassador care team and help care for the amazing educational animals at the Hardwicke Interpretive Center! Volunteers provide essential care for a variety of species, including reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and birds. Responsibilities include feeding the animals according to a prescribed diet and ensuring that they have comfortable, clean, and well-maintained enclosures.

Volunteers commit to a regular weekly shift, usually lasting 1-2 hours. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with animals, gain hands-on experience, and help educate the public about native wildlife. Join us to be a voice for our animal ambassadors!
