Opportunities From: City of Fort Worth Volunteer Programs

On Saturday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., celebrate the legend of the Lake Worth Monster (“Goatman”) sightings at the FWNCR! Fort Worth locals reported sighting a hairy, tall man-goat-beast on the Refuge grounds in 1969. We commemorate the event at our annual Halloween fair, including vendors/exhibits, hayrides, guided hikes, and intriguing cryptozoology presentations.

We'll need volunteers for:

- Parking attendants (helping direct cars in the lot)
- Discovery trail/education tables (talking with the public about a prepared nature topic)
- Vendor guides/runners (helping direct vendors to their tables and assisting them)
- Arts and crafts stations (helping visitors complete a prepared craft)
- Games stations (running a simple carnival game for visitors)

As part of The Cowtown Marathon’s mission to promote a lifelong love of fitness, The C.A.L.F. Program was created in 2009 to help tens of thousands of area children lace up and cross the finish line. Our staff and volunteers visit approximately 400 schools across North Texas annually, training students in proper running techniques and educating them about resting heart rate, the importance of hydration, proper nutrition, and living an active lifestyle.On October 3rd, The C.A.L.F. Race will take place at Coyote Drive-In Movie Theater in Fort Worth and will feature three different distances to choose from—1-mile, 5K, or 10K.

We’ll kick off the Cowtown fun at Will Rogers Memorial Center, the home to the annual Stock Show and Rodeo, in the heart of Fort Worth’s Cultural District.

Get ready for this year’s Jingle Bell Run, the original festive race for charity brought to you by the Arthritis Foundation. Wear your favorite holiday gear, and let's jingle all the way toward a cure!

Volunteers who have an interest in training teen attorneys are preferred to have training or experience in the judicial/legal field. Trainers will facilitate initial and on going training  for teen attorneys.  Trainers will also assist teen attorneys in preparing cases for hearings.  

**Adult volunteer opportunity**

The front desk clerk will be responsible for checking in participants, teen attorneys, jurors and adult volunteers. Front desk clerk will also check-out participants, ensure that they have all necessary paperwork and monitor participants in the waiting area.

Tribunals hearings consist of an adult facilitator and 3-6 member teen jury panel.  The participants pleads their case before the jury and the jury questions the participant.  The jury will decide the number of community service hours to be assigned.  Adult facilitators will maintain order during the hearing, encourage jury members to listen and ask questions, offer guidance when appropriate, complete teen court paperwork based on the outcome of the hearing. 

**Adult volunteers opportunity**

Volunteers who have an interest in judging teen court hearings are preferred to have training or experience in the judicial/legal field.  Judges will preside over the teen court hearings providing guidance to teen attorneys and jurors. 

**Adult volunteers opportunity**

Jurors must be 13-18 years old and currently enrolled in middle school or high school.  Jurors will listen to the facts of the case and make a determination on the number of community service hours each participant will receive.

Opportunities for juror are available each teen court session.

**Youth volunteer opportunity**

Teen Attorneys must be 13-18 years old and currently enrolled in middle school or high school.  Teen Attorneys are required to make at least a one semester commitment, fall (August-December), spring (January - April), summer (May-July).

Youth may need assistance obtaining more Community Service hours. This position will assist youth in processing different surveys or worksheets and grading papers which may have reading material and questions for the youth to answer and complete, in order to receive full credit (typically 10 CS Hours) for community service hours on Teen Court Night. 

***Adult volunteer opportunity***

Jury Monitor/ Floater/ Bailiff volunteers will monitor teen attorneys during case preparation, call cases for hearings, review teen court forms with participants following hearings, assign jurors and facilitate jury deliberation.

Want to restore locally endangered Fort Worth Prairie habitat? Join us for volunteer workdays and natural history hikes at Oakmont Park.

Background: The City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department is partnering with the Fort Worth chapter of Native Prairies Association of Texas (FW-NPAT) to restore Fort Worth Prairie habitat on the Oakmont Park hill overlooking the Clear Fork of the Trinity River. FW-NPAT team leaders received funding from Constellation Energy via a grant to the North Central Texas chapter of Native Plant Society of Texas.

Highland Hills Community Center is partnering with Molina Healthcare for our FitFest Health & Wellness Event on Tuesday, September 22nd, from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM!

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make this exciting event a success! Volunteers will assist with event setup, welcoming and guiding participants, helping vendors, distributing refreshments, and keeping the event running smoothly.

Come be part of a fun day focused on health, fitness, wellness, and community connection while supporting the Highland Hills Community Center and our local older adults.

The Diamond Hill Community Center Youth Choir is a free, community‑based program designed to inspire young voices and strengthen neighborhood pride. Open to all Fort Worth youth with a membership card, the choir meets weekly in the Multipurpose Room. It provides a positive, creative space where participants learn vocal skills, practice teamwork, and prepare for community performances. Supported by dedicated volunteers and center staff, the program encourages artistic expression, confidence, and connection among local youth.

Bringing Mental Health Information to the Community.

Our mission is to grow, maintain, and provide quality trees for the City of Fort Worth’s community tree canopy.

Come and go volunteer shift for all skill levels at Rolling Hills Tree Farm. Activities will include outdoor and greenhouse (inside) work and could include but not limited to repotting, planting, pruning, propagation and other necessary tasks for tree production to support Community Tree Planting programs. All skill and knowledge levels are welcome. Please bring your own refillable water bottle. Water, sunscreen, gloves and all tools will be provided. Wear closed toe shoes that can get wet and dress for the weather. Hot days may have the hours shifted to a start time of 8AM or ended early depending on the weather.

Whether it’s a shy dog needing socialization, a cat recovering from minor medical care, or a playful puppy waiting to grow strong enough for adoption, you’re giving them the gift of stability and love.

Puppies and Kittens, (Including Bottle Babies)

Help our youngest and most vulnerable residents! Caring for puppies and kittens, especially bottle-fed babies, is a rewarding experience. These tiny lives depend on foster homes for round-the-clock care, socialization, and a safe place to grow.

This class is for all R.A.C.E.S. members that need to renew their privileges or get their ID card for the first time.

Class begins at 09:00 Doors Open at 08:00.  Try to get there by 0800 so we can update your info and get a fresh picture.

Bring your dual band handheld radio if you have one.

When FWISD is closed there is the opportunity to volunteer with participants of the Como Community Center, when programming is offered.

The season lasts for seven weeks (one Saturday camp, six weekdays of practices, along with, six Saturdays of games) and games are played at Rolling Hills Soccer Complex at 2900 Joe B. Rushing Rd Fort Worth, TX 76119.

IMPORTANT: Head Coaches must be at least 18 years old. Assistant Coaches can be at least 16 years old and must be accompanied by a Head Coach at all times. Coaches are required to have a completed volunteer profile and pass a background check. Also, coaches are required to be at most practices and games.

We would love for you to get involved! Before you sign up to be a volunteer coach, please reach out to the Youth Sports Division at 817-392-7650. We’ll be happy to help you find out about our coaching needs, including which division(s) is/are looking for coaches and how many are needed.

The Fort Worth Public Library is dedicated to serving our communities in many different ways. Library Volunteers assist staff with a variety of tasks that help keep our library running smoothly and create a welcoming space for all.  

Fort Worth Public Library’s volunteers support staff with daily tasks such as-

Sorting
Processing
Helping shelve materials
Cleaning materials
Assisting with displays
Preparing program supplies
Assisting with classes
Addressing customer inquiries about computers

Assist in Coaching and teaching the fundamentals to the participants in various Sports, such as, Football, Flag Football, Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, Pickleball, Kickball, Tennis, Golf, Cheerleading and Dodgeball, etc.

Provided volunteer support for senior citizens by helping pass out lunches and organizing arts and crafts sessions to encourage social engagement.

Look for fun, energetic individuals to teach or share your hobby of music, arts and crafts, sewing, and any special programming, etc... with our seniors, after schoolers, teens, and summer campers. Please come share your talent at MLK Center.

In need of individuals to help set up and or tear down tables and chairs for special events. Help with of cleaning  of center such as sweeping, mopping, and light restroom duties.

If your offense includes theft, violence, sexual assault, or a weapon, you are not eligible for our program.  You must contact your probation officer or attorney for a new program.

You are not approved to start court-ordered community service until you receive an approval letter from the City of Fort Worth staff. You must have the approval letter to begin community service at any City of Fort Worth community center. It is your responsibility to contact the community centers and coordinate if and when they have availability for community service.

Want to volunteer in your community? Our center volunteers are an integral part of our center and get to focus on helping with daily operations, After school, Summer Camp, and any other special programs or events we may be having.

Engage with youth participants aged 5-13.  Duties may include gathering supplies, homework assistance, and leading activities such as games or arts and crafts.

This is a teen volunteer opportunity. Volunteers will assist with various tasks around the center for break camps, after school programs, single day camps and at events, helping to support student activities and community efforts. It's a great way to get involved, gain experience, and contribute in a meaningful way alongside your peers. If you're a teen looking to give back and be part of a team, we’d love to have your help.

Minor Volunteers will need a thumbs-up from a parent, along with completing the Volunteer application and uploading a headshot photograph, but, there’s no background check needed. For our awesome Adult Volunteers, please complete the application which includes uploading a headshot photograph, as well as, completing the Background Check Form and getting cleared.
