Rising Stars Youth Leadership Academy is an experience for teens ages 13-17 who are eager to take charge of their future. We focus on four pillars: Service, Education, Life Skills and Fun. Join the Natural Guard- get your hands dirty for conservation!

Love working outdoors to make a real impact? Become a part of Natural Guard, our hands-on volunteer team dedicated to preserving and enhancing the Nature Center. Work alongside our Natural Resources team on vital fieldwork projects, including trail maintenance, invasive species removal, wildlife care, and more!

Natural guard meets twice a week on a regular schedule (you can come either day)- Thursdays and Saturday mornings from 8-11.  All tools, equipment, and training will be provided. Come prepared with outdoor work clothes (especially long pants) & a water source (like a bottle).

Whether you're passionate about conservation or just love working with your hands, this is a great way to give back, stay active, and be a steward of the land. Join us to make a difference!

A great way to engage with seniors every fourth Tuesday. Help the pack and deliver produce to the senior cars.

Volunteer through the SER Program. Assists in facility maintenance and miscellaneous community center programs and activities.

Become a volunteer paddling guide!

Love being on the water and sharing in outdoor adventures? Join us as a volunteer paddling guide and help lead guided canoe/kayak tours in the West Fork of the Trinity River here on the Nature Center's grounds. Volunteers assist staff with loading equipment, helping participants launch safely, and providing on-the-water support during tours. Water safety is our top priority, and guides play a key role in ensuring a fun and secure experience for all.

Aquatic programs are typically held on weekend mornings, though programs occur throughout the year at various times, including our special monthly "Moonlight Paddle" tours at night. Volunteers must be able to swim, lift 50 pounds, and have some experience paddling a canoe or kayak. 

If you enjoy paddling, working with people, and promoting outdoor recreation, we'd love to have you on the team! Join us and help others explore nature from the water!

Join us for Bible Study as we explore scripture, deepen our faith, and grow in fellowship. This hour is designed for all ages to come together, reflect on God's Word and engage in meaningful discussions. Whether you're new to the Bible or looking to enrich your spiritual journey, all are welcome.

Do you love sharing your passion for nature with others? Docents serve as interpreters and naturalists, lead fun and engaging guided hikes with school-aged children, and participate in community outreach events, helping the public connect with the wonders of the natural world.

Love animals and want to make a difference? Join our wildlife ambassador care team and help care for the amazing educational animals at the Hardwicke Interpretive Center! Volunteers provide essential care for a variety of species, including reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and birds. Responsibilities include feeding the animals according to a prescribed diet and ensuring that they have comfortable, clean, and well-maintained enclosures.

Volunteers commit to a regular weekly shift, usually lasting 1-2 hours. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with animals, gain hands-on experience, and help educate the public about native wildlife. Join us to be a voice for our animal ambassadors!

Help out our Best Years Club for seniors 60 and older!

Spend time with our senior friends while they play table games, eating lunch, or participating in educational and fitness programs.

Engage with youth participants of the Handley Meadowbrook After School Program aged 5-13.  Duties may include gathering supplies, homework assistance, and leading activities such as games or arts and crafts.

Come volunteer and help out with our youth sports programs! You can coach or be an assistant coach for volleyball, basketball, flag football and soccer!

You can come volunteer and help with all our amazing kids during our after school program!

If you wish to join Fort Worth CERT, please register for this opportunity.  The CERT program requires volunteers to apply to join CERT followed by a background check.  Once you click register below, it will pop up a page that will ask a few questions.  After you answer, it will notify me that you are interested in joining Fort Worth CERT.  I will email you an application page for you to fill out and email back.  If you are accepted, the next step will be to pass a background check.  Upon the return of an approved background check, you will then be accepted into the program.

TAFB provides Norhtside Community Center with canned good to distribute to the community. Volunteers will come in at 8am and pack the bags. After this is done, bags will get moved outside and get handed out to the public.

This is for college students, who need hours for their college or university. They can help with our activities and recieve hours.

Assist in the growth and leadership of teens, ages 11-18, by providing enriching programs.  Rising Stars may include activities within the community center or special field trips.

The work performed by these individuals would include but is not limited to picking the driving range with the use of a motorized cart, being out of the golf course as ambassadors to the golfers ensuring they are following the golf course rules of play, pulling carts for daily play, rotating carts, washing carts and returning them to cart barn, and sanding divots on golf course.  Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of 8 hours per week in one day or split into two days.

Depression Connection for Recovery is a supportive meeting focused on discussing depression and anxiety to foster healing and personal growth. The group provides a safe space for individuals to share experiences, explore emotions, and learn coping strategies aimed at improving mental health and overall wellness. Through open dialogue, peer support, and practical tools, participants are empowered to better manage their emotional well-being, reduce stress, and enhance their quality of life.

Please monitor your assigned Site(s) monthly at the same time of day each month, for a one year commitment. For example: a possible monitoring schedule could be the first Sunday of each month at 10:00 am. Adherence to a consistent monitoring time is crucial because the physical and chemical parameters fluctuate over a 24-hour period. Monitoring takes approximately one to two hours per month per site *be sure to include your travel time in your total hours. 

Remember to check-out your assigned kit and return it within 3-4 days to ensure other citizen scientists also have access. 

Equipment Needed to Complete Monitoring:

Be sure to dress weather appropriate and be safe while sampling. Thank you for your contributions towards protecting Texas' natural resources!
