Adoption Ambassador – Be the Bridge Between Dogs and Their Forever Families

Spend your afternoon getting to know our dogs, sharing their stories, and helping adopters find the perfect match.

As an Adoption Ambassador, you’ll be the connection between our adoptable dogs and the people looking to welcome them home. You’ll spend time in the dog housing area you choose, learning each animal’s personality, quirks, and needs. With your insight, you’ll help potential adopters find a dog that fits their lifestyle, and guide them through the next steps toward adoption.

Who We’re Looking For
We want volunteers who are:

• Friendly, patient, and able to make meaningful connections with people and pets

• Passionate about helping shelter dogs find loving homes

• Comfortable speaking with adopters about adoption processes and options

• Observant and eager to learn about each dog’s behavior and needs

• Comfortable walking and standing for extended periods (with accommodations if needed)

• Confident in handling dogs of various sizes and energy levels
  
  

Responsibilities

• Select a dog housing area to focus on for your shift

• Spend time with the dogs to learn about their behaviors, energy levels, and preferences

• Assist adopters by recommending dogs that match their needs and lifestyle

• Oversee and support meet-and-greets between adopters and dogs

• Share information about the adoption process or deferred adoption options

• Direct adopters to reception to complete their adoption

• Submit behavior observations and optional photos via the kennel QR codes to help build online profiles for virtual matchmaking

• Optionally update dog photos to keep adoption profiles fresh and engaging

Your ability to connect the right person with the right dog can mean the difference between a dog waiting weeks for a home and going home that very day. Every conversation, observation, and introduction you make helps ensure lasting, happy matches — and opens a kennel for another animal in need.

Volunteer duties, access and privileges are only valid for the duration of the assigned shift in which they have chosen on the on-line volunteer scheduling system. There is a 15-minute grace period before and after each shift so that the volunteer may prepare and/or end their volunteer assignments.
