Volunteer Pet Photographer
Use your photography skills to change a life - one snapshot at a time!

Every animal has a story, and your lens can help tell it. As a Volunteer Pet Photographer, you'll capture the
heart and personality of shelter pets, helping them stand out to potential adopters, fosters, and rescues. Your photos will be their first impression — and sometimes their only chance — to connect with someone looking to give them a second chance.
Who We’re Looking For
This opportunity is perfect for volunteers who:
Are passionate about photography and animals
Have a basic understanding of photo composition and lighting
Can work independently while following shelter safety and photo protocols
Are comfortable handling dogs and/or cats in an outdoor setting
Are open to learning — we offer an optional Pet Photography Training to help you succeed!
Responsibilities
At the start of each shift please review the communication board to identify your point of contact(s) for the day. Your assigned point of contact will provide you with the list of pets to work with during your shift
You will walk the pets to the approved areas for your location site. Please do not take photos of pets in their kennel.
Please submit photos in portrait orientation. Landscape orientation does not show correctly on the City Website.
After each pet is photographed, you must submit your photos to the posted Animal Evaluation Google Form QR code. If the code isn’t working, please email them directly to fwaccvolunteers@fortworthtexas.gov
Photos should be free from any digital watermarks.
Please update the list of pets you have photographed so that other volunteers know who still needs to be photographed
After all identified pets have been photographed, please check in with your point of contact for any additional pets that may need to have their photo updated.
No additional dogs should be taken out past your assigned shift. If applicable, you may elect to extend your shift in your Galaxy profile.
The Impact
Photos can be powerful. A well-timed head tilt, a goofy grin, or a soulful stare can inspire someone to visit the shelter, adopt, or share a post. Your photos help increase adoptions, rescue placements, and foster interest, giving each animal a better chance at finding their forever home. You’ll also lighten the load for staff and make a lasting impact in your community — all while doing something you love.
