Cat Caretaker – Give Shelter Cats the Comfort They Deserve
Be the calm, caring presence that helps shy, sweet, or spunky cats find their way home.

Shelter life can be overwhelming for cats — strange smells, loud noises, and unfamiliar routines. As a Cat Caretaker Volunteer, your attention, compassion, and care bring comfort, healing, and hope to our feline residents. Whether you're cleaning kennels, refilling water bowls, or simply sitting with a timid cat who needs a gentle friend, you're making a real difference — every single shift.
Who We’re Looking For
This role is ideal for volunteers who:
Are calm, patient, and comfortable around cats of all temperaments
Are detail-oriented and able to follow sanitation and safety protocols
Enjoy quiet, meaningful one-on-one time with animals
Want to make a consistent, hands-on difference in the lives of shelter cats
Can commit to a routine shift and work as part of a supportive team
Responsibilities
Clean and reset cat kennels to maintain a safe, hygienic, and cozy space
Refill food, water, and litter to meet the cats' daily needs
Provide companionship through playtime, petting, and calm presence
Observe and report any behavior or medical concerns to staff
Assist staff with basic care tasks, including medication (if trained/approved)
Support socialization efforts to help shy or fearful cats become more adoptable
Follow all handling guidelines to ensure your safety and the cats’ well-being
The Impact
Your presence directly improves the lives of shelter cats. Clean kennels reduce illness. Daily interaction helps cats feel safe, confident, and visible to adopters. Gentle grooming or a quiet cuddle session can be the difference between a cat hiding in the back of a kennel or confidently stepping forward when a potential adopter stops by.
You’re not just cleaning a kennel — you’re giving cats the dignity, comfort, and care they deserve until their forever family walks through the door.
