Enrichment Prep & Cleanup – Fuel the Fun Behind the Scenes
Help keep our shelter pets happy, mentally stimulated, and emotionally healthy while they wait for homes.

Shelter life can be stressful — but enrichment can make all the difference. As a volunteer in Enrichment Prep & Cleanup, you'll directly support our behavior and animal care teams by prepping and cleaning toys, KONGs, puzzles, and other enrichment items. Your work brings joy, reduces kennel stress, and helps animals feel more like themselves — which improves their well-being and adoptability.
Who We’re Looking For
This role is ideal for volunteers who:
Prefer behind-the-scenes tasks that make a big impact
Are comfortable with light cleaning and staying organized
Enjoy preparing creative enrichment items and working with their hands
Want to support the emotional and mental health of shelter animals
Can follow written instructions and work independently or with minimal supervision
Responsibilities Include:
Assembling enrichment items such as KONGs, puzzle feeders, frozen treats, or sensory toys
Washing and sanitizing used enrichment materials
Restocking and organizing enrichment prep stations and supply shelves
Assisting with general cleanup in enrichment or behavior prep areas
Supporting staff with special enrichment events or themed days
The Impact
Enrichment reduces anxiety, boredom, and behavioral issues in shelter pets — which improves both their daily quality of life and their chances of adoption. Your support helps staff deliver consistent enrichment to dogs and cats, even during busy or high-volume days. Whether you're stuffing a treat toy or cleaning up afterward, your work directly contributes to healthier, happier animals.
